Graveside funeral services for Chester L. Tessendorf, 94, Junction City will be held 11.00am Monday, January 30, 2006 at Highland Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Joe Belardo officiating. Chester was born December 24, 1911 the son of Albert and Ida Godlove Tessendorf in Pottawatomie County, Onaga, KS. He attended Arspie School. On February 17, 1941, he entered the US Army serving in the 35th Division (Co B) of 134 Infantry. He served at Little Rock, AK, later transferred at San Luis Obispo, CA and then to West Los Angeles Medical Hospital, where he received his honorable discharge on May 8th, 1943
On June 15, 1943 he married Roine Kopfer at Manhattan, KS, she survives at the home.
They farmed for 14 years in Pottawatomie, Riley and Clay counties, moving to Junction City August 2, 1957. Chester was employed as custodian at Junction City Senior High School for 2 years, later by Geary County Highway Dept., where he retired in 1976. He was also employed at Junction City Livestock Company for over 30 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #45.
Other survivors include one son Irl Tessendorf Sedalia, MO, sister Alberta Kopher, Clay Center, KS; brother, Albert Tessendorf, Mesa, AZ .
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Gilbert.
