Cheryl "Smiley" Stewart Wallace, 58, of Junction City, left her family peacefully on October 23, 2013 at Mercy Health Center, to join her Daddy and a host of other loved ones. Cheryl fought a long and courageous battle with lung disease and cancer, during which time she never lost hope or her faith.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 28th at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel located at 805 Caroline Avenue, Junction City, KS. A Funeral Service will be held to celebrate Cheryl's life at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 29th at the Chapel. Burial will follow at the Prairiedale Cemetery in Talmage, KS.
Cheryl was born in Abilene, KS to Orland and Dorothy Birdwell Stewart on March 24, 1955. She lived her early years in Longford, KS, moving to Wakefield in 1969 where she attended and graduated high school.
Cheryl was married to Gary Wallace, and they brought to us her pride, a son, Keno Ray. She worked over 30 years with the Civil Service at Fort Riley; her last position being a contract specialist until she became too ill to work.
Cheryl enjoyed being outdoors and working in her yard. She also had a great love for all animals and was known to take in and care for any stray in need of a loving home.
She was preceded in death by her Daddy, Orland, as well as her grandparents.
Cheryl leaves behind to cherish her memory her mother, Dorothy of Wakefield; a sister, Theresa Stewart Thompson and husband Bobby of Coldspring, TX; a son, Keno Wallace and Shannon of Salina; granddaughters, Kailee and Tabitha of Milford; and grandsons, Jace and Tyler of Salina. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a lifetime of special and loved friends. Last but not least, she leaves behind her beloved furry friends, Chessy, Coby and Benny.
