Chelon L. Braden,81 of Junction City, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 7, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Center in Junction City, KS. He was born June 15, 1921 in Junction City, Kansas to Samuel J. and Elizabeth (Mellinger) Braden.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2002 at the Milford Cemetery in Milford, Kansas. A Military Chaplain will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2002 at the Johnson Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Braden graduated from Junction City High School in 1940.
He was married to Donna J. Parks on July 26, 1946 in Golden, Colorado.
She preceded him in death on July 24, 1979
He entered into the Army Air Corps at Fort Riley in 1942 until
retiring in 1967 at Mather AFB in California. He was then employed by the U.S. Postal Service in 1967 in Rancho Cordova, CA. And retired in Junction City in 1976.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Junction City, KS., American Legion,VFW, Retired Sergeants Association, Geary County Historical Society.
Survivors include, Two Daughters: Linda Schaefer, Junction City, Kansas and Diana K. Forgerson,Marietta, GA.; Son: Jeffrey Braden, Blue Spring, MO. Four Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Son: Steven Dean Braden, Three Brothers: Edwin,Floyd and Dean Braden; Five Sisters: Nelle Jarrard, Marie Schmedemann, Phyrne Howell,twins Grace Kirkpatrick and Georgia White.
Fort Riley Honor Guard will serve as Pallbearers.
