Charlene Rae Garrett, 67, of Junction City, died July 8, 2015 at Via Christi Regional Health Center in Manhattan. Charlene was born July 11, 1947 in Tomah, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles & Darlene (Abbs) Williams. She attended schools in Tomah, and had moved to Junction City many years ago.
Charlene was a bookkeeper at Home Lumber Co. for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Earl C. Gormley Unit #45 of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Board of Directors of the Food Pantry, and the Board of Directors of Modern Woodmen of America.
Charlene married Roy Garrett on Feb. 3, 1978 in Junction City. He survives. Others survivors include: 2 daughters, Theresa Altmeyer and husband Roger, Highland, Ill, and Christina Williams and husband James, Augusta, GA; 2 brothers, Daniel Williams and wife Sherry, Junction City, and Kenneth Duckworth and wife Teri, Raytown, MO; a sister, Sheryl Dugger, Emporia; 6 grandchildren, Leanna Mueller and husband Tony, Terry Shawn Gagain , Alyce Keesler and husband Wes, Athena Brown, Adonis Jones, and Alonzo Williams; 4 great-granddaughters, Chloey, Gabby, Liberty, and Peyton; and her dogs, Lucky (Shih Tzu) and Honey (Jack Russell/Chihuahua). Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Robert Duckworth, and a son-in-law, Dennis Gagain.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, with Pastor Ronnie Roberts and Dr. Joe Belardo officiating. The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2015 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.
