Cencil O'Neal, 76, of Junction City, KS, joined our Heavenly Father on October 13, 2016. Friends may pay their final respects on Thursday, October 20, 2016, from 3:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street, Junction City, KS. His family would like to extend their thanks to all who come to visit him. Family will have a private gathering beforehand and will not be present for public calling hours.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016, 11:00 am. at the Second Missionary Baptist Church, 701 W. 10th Street, Junction City, KS, with Dr. Leonard Gray officiating and Rev. Redo Purnell co-officiant. By family request, his resting bed will not be open for his service. He will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Junction City, KS, following the service.

Cencil was born on August 2, 1940 in Longview, Texas, to Reuben and Myrtle (Stevens) O'Neal. He grew up in a loving family. Cencil went on to graduate Longview High School in the Class of 1958. Later in life, he worked at Via Christi Medical Center (formally Mercy Regional Health Center) for eighteen (18) years for Burns Security Company.
Cencil held various honors and positions as a member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church. He served as the Layman President, an Usher Board Member, a Choir Member, and a Team Leader. He was also Awarded Man of the Year in the church. He was a devoted father and husband. Cencil enjoyed working on his yard and participating in many church activities.
On March 12, 1965, he married Atwill Madkins in Junction City, Kansas. They have since been longtime residents of Junction City, Kansas.
Cencil leaves to cherish his memory his angelic, devoted wife, Atwill M. O'Neal; his lovely daughters: Bridgette O'Neal, New York; Jacqueline Jones and Sonya Goodwin, Atlanta, GA; Shajuana Smith and her children, Quinten O'Neal, Kourtney and Ashley Smith, and four grandchildren, Dallas, TX.; son, Daryl Cotton and his children Joshua, Donovan and one granddaughter, Aniya, Houston, TX. Also, his loving sister, Urligene Mathews and her children, Raymond Herbert and Myrtlyn L. Mathews, Longview, TX.; His caring sister-in-law, Doris Jean Madkins and her children, Henderson, TX.; niece, Denver Wallace (Rudy) and their children; nephew, Reuben Blair O'Neal and his children, Longview, TX.
Those who met him in his heavenly home are his parents, Reuben and Myrtle O'Neal, his brothers, Reuben O'Neal, Jr. and Thomas Andrew O'Neal; grandparents, uncles and aunts and other relatives and friends.
