Celia Ione Glessner, 90, of Junction City, passed away Oct. 20, 2015 at Valley View Senior Life Center. Celia was born September 23, 1925 at Alta Vista, the 10th of 12 children to David and Emma (Kuhn) McDiffett. She was raised in Geary County around the Moss Spring area.
Celia was a homemaker and later worked for 25 years as a cook in the Food Service Dept. at Kramer Dining Hall on the campus at Kansas State University. Celia enjoyed spending time with her children and their families. She had a full life being a wife and mother.
She married Walter W. Glessner on December 21, 1941. They were married for 61 years, before his passing on March 30, 2003. Survivors include: 3 sons, Donald Glessner (Debbie), Dwight, Robert Glessner (Brenda), Houston, TX, and James Glessner (Traci), Bella Vista, AR; 4 daughters, Judy Strauss, Eva Hassler, and Mary Nicholson (Pat), all of Junction City, and Karen Gould (Chuck), Manhattan; a sister, Donna Cowdin (Francis), Janesville, MN; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Celia was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Glessner; a granddaughter, Emily Glessner; 2 sons-in-law, Alfred Strauss and Dennis Hassler; 3 brothers, John McDiffett, Glen McDiffett, and Floyd McDiffett; and 7 sisters, Sophia, Bessie, Mickey, Edith, Ethel, Minnie, and Jean.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Highland Cemetery with Pastor Laurie Barnes presiding. The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, at Penwell-Gabel Mass Hinitt Funeral Chapel in Junction City.
