SFC Cecil E. Webb, 73, of Junction City, passed away on March 15, 2014 at Geary Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place with the assistance of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Visitation with the family will be held from 6p.m. to 8p.m., Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street and graveside services with full military honors will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, March 21,2014 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends and loved ones to make a donation in Cecil's memory to Geary County Senior Center on Spring Valley Road in Junction City.
He was born on August 31, 1940, in Burnwell, West Virginia, to parents Walter and Mabel (Marshall) Webb.
Cecil was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed being outdoors. He was a handyman, and there was nothing he couldn't fix.
Cecil served his country in the United States Army for many years. He served two tours in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart. His accomplishments in the Army included a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Driver Badge with Bar, Purple Heart, and Good Conduct Medal (5th Award).
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mike, Bobby, Curtis and Gifford; sister, Jean; and a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Webb.
Cecil leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife Gudrun (Wesche) Webb of the home; sons, Mike Webb and wife Caroline, Robby Webb, James Webb and wife Lory; daughters, Lynn Webb, Michelle Von Holtz and Keith. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Misty Dawn, Crystal, Christopher, Courtney, Jordan, Robert, Junior, Dallas, Dakota, Dalton, Dyllan, Jessica, Heather, and Romy; siblings, Richard Webb and wife Helen, Betty Means and husband Bobby, James Webb and wife Peggy, Kenneth Webb, Foster Webb and wife Nancy. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, as well as a multitude of other relatives and other loved ones.
