Funeral Services for Cecil Brown, 81, Longford, KS will be 1p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Longford United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Thaden officiating. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery. Mr. Brown passed away April 7, 2005 at his home. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadowlark Hospice, 709 Liberty, Clay Center, KS 67432. .
Cecil was born February 24, 1924 in Millstone, KY the son of Maylon Burke and Polly Ann (Craft) Brown. Mr. Brown worked for Civil Service at Fort Riley as Director of Facilities Engineering, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater of Operations in Italy.
Cecil had lived in Milford, Ks for 44 years where he had served as mayor and councilman, moving to Longford, KS in 1990 and had served as councilman there. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy, Ben Caudill Chapter.
Cecil is survived by his wife Nancy Brown, Longford, KS; a daughter, Sheila Roesler, Junction City, KS; Two sons, Cecil Roy Brown, Wakefield, KS and Maylon Bert Brown, Meade, KS; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife Minnie Gustin Brown, his parents and a grandson Kade Ray Brown
Pallbearers will be Kenny Bartlett, Dwight Benfer, Bill Faidley, Dusty Hammond, Kim Kramer, and Chester Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Baker, Bronson Brown, Jason Brown, Justin Brown, Jeff Collette, Brock Kramer, Mike Kraus, and Chad Roesler.
