Memorial services for Catherine T. Kitchens, 73, of Junction City, KS will be Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Covenant, with Father Dale Plummer officiating. Inurnment will be at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Kitchens passed away at Geary Community Hospital September 23, 2004. Memorial contributions may be given to the Respiratory Unit, c/o Geary Community Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, KS 66441 and/or The Episcopal Church of the Covenant, 314 N. Adams, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mrs. Kitchens was born September 16, 1931 in rural Leavenworth, Kansas to Joseph and Anna Schermeier Gates. She resided in Junction City for more than 50 years, graduating from St. Xavier School in 1949. She worked in engineering with Civil Service at Fort Riley. She was a member of NARFE(National Association Retired Federal Employees) and the Episcopal Church of the Covenant.
She is survived by two sons, Benjamin C. Kitchens and Joseph E. Kitchens both of Junction City, KS, one daughter, Margie A. Pinaire of Junction City, KS, two brothers, Edward Gates of Junction City, KS and Mike Gates of Lebanon, MO and seven grandchildren, Erin Compton, Benjamin Pinaire, Joseph Pinaire, Emily Pinaire, Taylor Scoggins, Kevin Davis-Kitchens and Peyton Kitchens.
She was preceded in death by one son, Kevin W. Kitchens and one sister, Anna Marie Coleman.
