Funeral services for Carrie L. Westover,79, of Junction City will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington with Pastor Jan Kimbrell and Galan Burnett officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m., at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Westover passed away at her residence on July 28, 2006. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association and/or the American Lung Association.
Mrs. Westover was born December 26, 1926, Rural Chapman, KS to William and Mary Ann (Shaffer) Moyer. Mrs. Westover attended Prairie Hill Rural Country School until the 8th grade when the family moved to Junction City, KS, she cared for her ill father until his passing in 1942. She went to work at the age of 14 as a professional cleaner for Park Cleaners and continued for the next 46 years at Uptown Cleaners, The Chief Restaurant, Wardrobe Cleaners, One Hour Martinizing Cleaners and Fashion Masters, she was forced to retire following a car accident in 1986. She enjoyed traveling and attending her grandson's baseball games. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Methodist Church.
She married Lavern (Vern) Westover December 24, 1947, Junction City, KS, he preceded her in death August 5, 2000.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen Loehr and husband Danny of Junction City, KS, two sons, Floyd William Westover and wife Carolyn of Salina, KS and Delmar Eugene Westover and friend Gina of Chapman, KS, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and eight step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, ten brothers; Albert Moyer, Clarence Moyer, Martin Moyer, Fred Moyer, Richard Moyer, Walter Moyer, Earl Moyer, Raymond Moyer, Ernest Moyer and Ray Moyer, four sisters; Emma Knight, Marie Satterlee, Margaret Long and Esther Martin.
Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Loehr, Joshua Loehr, Dustin Westover, Morris Kerr, Greg Kerr and Mike Kerr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Melvin Kerr, Jim Martin, Glen Moyer, George Norris and Dewey Moyer.
Musicians will be Florence Whitebread, Organist and Myrtle Sims, Soloist.
