Carolyn D. Brumfield 72, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Saturday June 12, 2021 while under Hospice care at Villa Christi Village. A funeral service will take place at 1:00pm, Friday June 18, 2021 at Second Missionary Baptist Church. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Johnson Funeral Home 203 N. Washington Street.
She was born on March 26, 1949 in Atkins, Arkansas to Alphonso and Asalene (Templeton) Jefferson. Carolyn was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church.
On June 10, 2006 she married Paul Brumfield, Paul and Carolyn lived in Junction City, Kansas.
Carolyn embarked on 3 separate professional careers. She started as an LPN nurse in 1969 in the Kansas City area working for KU Medical center for several years. Carolyn then began a career in the railroad industry working for Missouri Pacific railroad. She served as a brake person and a engineer while in the railroad industry. She relocated to New Mexico in 1983 and was educated in the culinary arts. She began cooking professionally and took a job to manage the food services at Ellsworth correctional Facility in Ellsworth KS. She retired from work in 2004 and moved back to Junction City.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Paul of Junction City: two sons, Richard Jefferson and wife DeAngelia, Rickie Jefferson and wife Heather all of Wichita, KS. One brother, Alphonso (Jaquelin) Jefferson of Junction City, one sister, Loretta Smith of Junction City. Five grandchildren, Brittany Jefferson, Aaron Jefferson, Mia Jefferson, Isaiah Jefferson and Corey Jefferson. Carolyn is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews as well.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Alfretta Du-Bois and one grandchild Patrick Buzay.
