Carlos Elmer Buckles, 84, of Junction City, KS, passed away on October 17, 2019.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019, 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 218 N. Washington St., Junction City, Kansas, with Father Peter O'Donnell officiating.
Visitation will be held before service from 10:00 am. to 11:00 am. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington St., Junction City, KS.
Carlos was born on September 4, 1935, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Elmer and Mary (Schreiner) Buckles. His family settled in the White City area where he attended and graduated from White City High School in 1954. After high school, he entered into the United States Army National Guard where he proudly served for many years. As a guardsman, he work as a civilian employee for the Department of the Army and retired in 1995. Throughout this time, he was a hard working farmer. He enjoyed his farm until his final retirement in 2012.
On August 7, 1972 Carlos married Etta June Neely-Hibbs. They enjoyed 46 wonderful years together.
After his retirement, Carlos loved to travel. He and his wife, June, by town coach all across the United States.
Carlos was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagle since 1972, St. Xavier Catholic Church, and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE).
Carlos was a loving husband, caring father, compassionate grandfather, and attentive great-grandfather.
He will be missed.
Carlos is survived by his loving family: wife of 46 years June of the home; two step-daughters, Dixie Lassinger of Columbia, SC, and Teresa Helton of Junction City, KS; two nieces, Cynthia Hutchinson, and Teresa Frank; 12 Grandchildren; 24 Great-Grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Leila Tiede, and step-son, Sammy Neely.
