Funeral services for Carl A.F. Wagner, 88, will be 2 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington, with Reverend Alan Stahlecker officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the chapel. Mr. Wagner passed away at his home on May 7, 2008. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be given to Hospice at Geary Community Hospital, c/o Geary Community Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, KS 66441.
Carl was born December 16, 1919 in Junction City to Carl and Anna Willimence (Bokelman) Wagner. He was a graduate of Junction City High School class of 1938 he served in the U S Army and was a veteran of WWII.
Carl worked for many years for his brother-in-law at Windy's Auto Repair in Herington, KS, but later retired as an employee of Jim Clark Automotive, working as a body shop repairman. He married Helen J. Zukowfsky December 12, 1969 in Junction City, KS. He was a longtime member of the VFW, American Legion and an avid bowler until his illness made him stop.
Carl is survived by his wife Helen, two daughters; JoAnn Powell and husband Gary of Oakland, NE, Yvonne Burhoop and husband Enno of Herington, KS, one son, Stanley E. Zukowfsky and life partner Ronald D. Bowman of Scottsdale, AZ, one brother, David Wagner and wife Wilma of Vernon, TX; four grandchildren, Scott and his wife Keli, Mike, Kylie and Brian, two great-grandchildren, Cassen and Cahle and many cousins and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Wagner and one sister, Florence Obermeyer.
Pallbearers will be Enno Burhoop, Scott Coats, Gary Powell, Mike Coats, Brian Burhoop and Willie Thornberg.
