Burton Lusenhop, 73, Chapman, died on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Salina Regional Health Center. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will follow at Fort Riley Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions have been designated to the American Legion, 201 E. 4th Street, Junction City, KS 66441.
Burton was born on September 16, 1939 in Ohio, to Burton and Ruth Lusenhop. He joined the U S Army September 17, 1956 and served two tours in Vietnam and received numerous awards including the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts. He retired as a CPT February 1, 1977.
He married Cora Musselman on April 19, 1960 in DeRidder, Louisiana. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2002.
He is survived by four daughters; Deborah Wheatly (Richard) of Chapman, KS, Jackie Dickinson (Joseph) of Kinsley, KS, Terri Heinsohn (1LT Robert) of Hopewell, VA, Judi Beal of Chapman, KS, one son, Tyler Lusenhop of Junction City, KS, two brothers; Paul Lusenhop (Joan)of Glouchester, NY and Jerry Lusenhop of AZ, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Erika Marie and his sister, Janice Lusenhop.
