Bruce J. MacMeeken, 68, of Junction City, KS died Thursday, November 22, 2012, at the Geary Community Hospital. Cremation will take place. A celebration of life visitation will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012, from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. A private family inurnment service with full military honors will be conducted at the Centralia Cemetery in Centralia, KS. Memorial contributions may be given to the National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri, 6405 Metcalf Ave. STE 204, Overland Park, KS 66202.

Bruce was born January 4, 1944, in Boston, MA, the son of Robert and Ruth (Sampson) MacMeeken.

Bruce served in the United States Army having retired in February of 1981. While serving in the Army, he served two tours in Vietnam and three tours in Panama. After retiring from the Army, he went to work for the Junction City Police Department as a Police Officer having retired July 1, 2006.

Bruce attended First Baptist Church and was a member of the Elks Lodge #1037.
He married Rita Escala June 14, 1964 in Panama, they later divorced, he married Connie (Kout) Nabus March 5, 1988 she preceded him in death April 22, 2003. He married Patricia "Pat" (Ainsworth) MacMeeken February 21, 2004. She survives of the home.

Survivors include his children, Darleng (Dee) Dill and her husband William (Billy) of Junction City, Ronald MacMeeken and his wife Kristian (Kristie) of Wichita, Chris Nabus of Kansas City, Todd Nabus of Lenexa, KS, Shawn Nabus of Dublin Georgia, Randy Nabus and his wife Lisa of Junction City, David MacMeeken and his wife Jill of Baconton, GA, Susan MacMeeken Hampton, Tracey MacMeeken Fleming and her husband Steve and Scott MacMeeken all of Abbeville, SC.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Mitchell Dill and his wife (Jacqueline) of Hill AFB UT, Bradley Dill and wife (Kelsey) of Junction City, Brannon and Trenton MacMeeken, Daniel, Darrin, Christopher, Bryce, Marley, Macie, Jada, Logan, Morgan and Brock Nabus, Tricia Turner, Dana Thompson, Holly Hampton, Melody Jones, Amy Gleason, Ashley Gleason, Stacey Latham and Brian Singleton. He is survived by great-grandchildren, Gabriella,Izabella and Peyton and Bryson Dill, Harmony, Elijah, Bethany, Kinley and Landon. He is survived by one sister Eleanor Partridge and her husband (Paul) of Lakeland, FL.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and his siblings Mary Bohannon, Mabel Stefanik, Harriett Butler, David MacMeeken, Roberta Phillips, Alton MacMeeken and Malcom MacMeeken.
