Brady was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer called AT/RT in March 2012 after undergoing a very long and dangerous 8 hour brain surgery to remove the massive tumor at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. He did amazing with no long term effects or delays. Brady underwent chemotherapy at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. He never complained, never lost his laugh, smile, sense of humor, silliness, his awesome personality, and had gained his will to live!!
Brady lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, August 4, 2012. He was full of energy and spunk all the way up to the end. He used to dance to "party rock" while getting infused with chemo. There was a never a dull moment. He did so much in his short life: meeting pop stars, professional athletes, even a president of the United States. He was surely the strongest person that his family and friends have ever known.
Brady is survived by his parents, Katy and OIF veteran Jason Mortimer and older brother Andrew of Junction City, grandparents Belinda and Jay Hassanzadeh of Junction City, owners of Daylight Donuts, Robert and Marcia Mortimer of Bremen, Maine, Sally and Jeff Kenniston of Warren, Maine, great-grandparents Doris Mortimer of Bremen, Maine, Alice Poland of Damariscotta, Maine, and great-great grandmother Evelyn Gifford of Round Pond, Maine.
