Bonnie H. Loeb, 85, of Junction City, passed away October 13, 2009, at Meadowlark Hills Honstead House.
Bonnie was born September 4, 1924 in Junction City, KS to Theodore and Julia (Smith) Heck. She attended Emporia State University and was a member of Tri-Sigma. Bonnie Heck married Dan B. Loeb on September 12, 1946. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Levon, and her parents.
Dan and Bonnie were the Owners of Midway USA Travel Agency in Junction City. This opportunity allowed them to travel the world. They retired from the business in 1999. Bonnie was very community oriented. She helped establish and served as President of the Geary County Historical Society and participated in many different organizations including, the Ladies Reading Club, Junction City Chamber of Commerce, Troubadour's, and Circle III of St. Xavier's Church. Bonnie and Dan were also active members of the AUSA. They attended annual meetings in Washington, D.C. , often taking their children, and later, their grandchildren with them.
Bonnie enjoyed many hobbies, including bird watching and bridge. She was a loyal friend to many, including her childhood friend, Betty Waters. Her compassion for others and devotion to her family has lead to lifelong lessons for her children and grandchildren.
Her family was a source of great joy throughout her long, full life. She was a strong supporter of her children through their many accomplishments and endeavors.
She is survived by seven children: Jeff Loeb and wife, Carolyn, of Overland Park, KS, Dr. Elbie Loeb and wife, Ada, of Leawood, KS, Kerry Loeb and wife, Rachael, of Fairfax, CA, Eric Loeb and wife, Chris, and Lindy Enlow and husband, Brad, all of Manhattan, KS, Julie Harper and husband, Jeff, of Junction City, KS and Barrie Loeb and wife, Denise, of Olathe, KS, seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass is planned for Friday, October 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Xavier's Church, in Junction City, KS. The visitation will be held prior to the mass at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Xavier's Catholic Church, P.O.
