Bonita (Bonni) Rae Ward died Wednesday October 24, 2007 at her home in rural Geary County after a 14 month bout with cancer.
Bonni was born January 2, 1955, in St Ignace, MI to Reino and Betty Laakko (nee Hanson). She married Fred Guzek in 1976 while living in Sault Ste Marie, MI and was later divorced. She lived in the Topeka area from 1982 to 1995. She lived in the Junction City area since 1997.
Bonni worked at Federal Home Loan Bank and OhSe Foods in Topeka. Since 1998 she worked at the Footlocker Distribution Center in Junction City, KS.
She married Ken Ward on September 24, 1994 and he survives her at their home in rural Geary County. She is also survived by her son, David Guzek, his wife Amber, and their daughter MacKenzie of Kapolei, HI.
Bonni is also survived by her brothers and sister, their spouses and nieces and nephews: Jim and Sharon Laakko of St Ignace, MI and their children Ray (Erin) Laakko and Sheri (Brandon) Neering; Ken and Debbie Laakko of Ypsilanti, MI, and their children Ken (Jill) Snyder, Dawn (Andy) Peckat and Tonya (Robert) Train; Gary and Theresea Laakko of Mascoutah, IL, and their children Gheri (Eric) Hawley, Julie Laakko and Bryan Laakko; and her sister Lynda and Michael Trickey and children Michael Johnson and Mark Johnson.
There will be a visitation Saturday, October 27 between 5pm and 7pm at Penwell-Gabell Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home 805 Caroline Ave. Junction City, KS. A celebration of her life will be held at her home on Sunday, October 28 from noon till 6pm.
