Funeral services for Blanche Louise (Munsell) McNeese, 92, of Junction City (formerly of Council Grove and Emporia), will be Tuesday, March 8, 2005, 10 a.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Council Grove Chapel with Reverend Charles Scott officiating. Visitation will be Monday, March 7, 2005, 4-6 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Council Grove Chapel. Burial will be in Wilsey Cemetery. Ms. McNeese passed away March 4, 2005 at Geary Community Hospital. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS 66604 and/or American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-9865.

Ms. McNeese was born February 4, 1913, in Parkerville, KS, daughter of Charles and Dicae (Cress) Munsell. She graduated from Council Grove High School in 1930 and later received her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Masters Degree at Emporia State University. Ms. McNeese was a school teacher and taught in a one room school house beginning in 1930 at Garfield Rural School near Alta Vista, then at Kelso School, and finally at Central School in Morris County. She worked as a keypunch operator for the U.S. Government in White Horse Yukon during the construction of the Al Can Highway from 1942-1943. After that, she went back to teaching and taught at Garfield Elementary in Council Grove for 24 years, retiring in 1979.

She married William Everett McNeese May 7, 1944 in Wilsey, KS; he preceded her in death April 24, 1956.

Ms. McNeese was a member of the Wilsey First United Methodist Church, Council Grove First United Methodist Church, and the Wilsey Chapter of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.

Survivors include her two sons, Charles W. McNeese and Robert E. McNeese; four grandchildren, Kathy Bock, Karla Waller, Charles R. McNeese and Chance E. McNeese; and four great-grandchildren, Anthony Williams, Ashley Williams, KayeLee Williams and Dustin Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Frank, Fletch, Ned, Bob and Don; and two sisters, Dora and Marion.
