Billie Marie Warner

January 26, 1922 — April 21, 2018

Billie M. Warner passed away on April 21, 2018, at the age of 96 years young. She was born on January 26, 1922 in Junction City, KS, and was raised by her grandparents. Billie became a member of 1st United Methodist Church in February 1934, and graduated from Junction City High School in 1940. Shortly after graduation, she began working at Kansas Power and Light, retiring after 40 plus years.

Billie married Elvin Warner, who was the Chief of Police in Junction City from 1962 until his death in 1966. The couple had no children.

Billie's fondest memories were of her grandparents, who loved her dearly and "spoiled" her even though times were tough during the Great Depression. Her grandmother was an exceptional seamstress, and if Billie admired a dress in a store window, her Grandmother would buy the fabric and make it for her.

Billie had a good friend whose father was a train conductor, and she got to go on many trips with them, as a companion for their daughter. So Billie's love of travel started at a young age.

Billie traveled extensively with her good friend Gladys Gieselmann, and enjoyed many trips to foreign countries. She said Gladys knew the best places to shop and eat, and they had a wonderful time together.

Billie loved to gamble, and did so as often as she could. She enjoyed bus trips to baseball games and in her later years could be counted upon to join gambling trips whenever she could.

Billie moved to Brookdale Senior Living in 2012 and lived there until May of 2017 when a severely broken leg required her to relocate to Valley View Senior Life. In both locations Billie won the hearts of caregivers and residents alike. She will be especially missed by her tablemates at Valley View, Hilde, Heidi and Julia.

Per Billie's wishes, no funeral or visitation will be held. Instead, a "Celebrate Billie" event was held at Valley View, where friends gathered, and shared stories and fond memories of Billie. A tribute to a life well lived.

Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, of Junction City, is assisting with cremation.
