Funeral services for Billie F. "B.F." Helm, 87, of Junction City, KS will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 31, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, 113 W. 5th Street with Reverend Jim Hagemeister officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. No visitation is planned. Mr. Helm passed away at Geary Community Hospital on December 28, 2010. Memorial contributions may be given to The Junction City Noon Kiwanis, P.O. Box 775, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mr. Helm was born August 12, 1923, Coffey County, KS to John Campbell and Hermine Paulina "Minnie" (Volland) Helm.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from July 1, 1943 to July 19, 1946. He received the Victory Ribbon and the WWII American Theater Ribbon.
After serving in the war he worked for many years as a loan officer for First National Bank and later for Fort Riley National Bank until retiring in 1980. He also worked for Wahle Real Estate. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, the Junction City Noon Kiwanis and the Masonic Lodge, #3309.
He married June Beth (Holdren) June 18, 1947, Coolidge, KS. She preceded him in death January 31, 2009.
He is survived by his daughter Marilyn J. Hellerud and her husband Bob of Junction City, KS and his son Robert W. Helm and his wife Marilynn of Hays, KS; grandchildren-Eric Helm of Olathe, KS; Christopher Helm and Michelle Kraemer of Centennial,CO; Kelli Creamer and husband Brett of Olathe, KS; Lesley Taylor and husband Ben of Grapevine, TX; Lori Carrillo and husband Dustin of Overland Park, KS; great-grandchildren-Kaden Creamer of Olathe, KS; William Helm of Olathe, KS; Jackson and Sydney Taylor of Grapevine, TX; Kinnan and Kendall Helm of Centennial, CO and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
