Funeral services for Bill James Martin, 71 of Junction City, Kansas will be held at 10:00AM, Monday September 10, 2007 at the Church of the Nazarene, 1315 W. Ash St., Junction City, Kansas with Pastor Jim Bond officiating. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery, Milford, Kansas. A visitation will be held from 6:00PM – 8:00PM on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. Memorials are suggested to the Children's Church Camp Scholarship Fund, Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Martin passed away Monday, September 3, 2007 at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka. He was born March 23, 1936 in Junction City, the son of Ralph and Margaret (Bentley) Martin. Bill graduated from Junction City High School and served in the Kansas Army National Guard Units of Abilene and Junction City. Bill was employed by Safeway until it closed and was then a Scanning Coordinator at the Fort Riley Commissary until his retirement. He married Joan Shandy on June 23, 1957 in Milford. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Maxine Boswell.
Other survivors include 2 daughters, Kimberly Ortiz and Kelly Fulk and husband, Rick; one son, Kyle Martin and wife, Rene'; seven grandchildren, Qinn, Brandon, Drake, Rene', Blake, Jake, and Krystal; and seven great-grandchildren.
