Funeral services for Betty Joyce Thomas, 63, formerly of Banks, Arkansas will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Faith Tabernacle Church with Pastor Edwin Young officiating. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. Burial will take place at Weary Rest Cemetery in Marsden, AR, 10 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2007. Mrs. Thomas passed away on November 22, 2007 at her residence in Junction City.
Mrs. Thomas was born December 9, 1943 in Banks, AR to Marion and Lelia (Johnson) Childs. She married Joseph Thomas, Sr. May of 1958 he survives of the home. She was a housekeeper, faithful and loving wife who loved and cared for her seven children, shared her heart with her stepchildren, a beautiful, beautiful Grandmother who was greatly loved by her grandchildren, husband, children and friends.
She is survived by four sons; Joseph L. Thomas, Jr., Marion L. Thomas, Melvin Thomas and Willie R. Thomas all of Hermitage, AR, three daughters; Barbara A. Ross, Bernita J. Rawlins and Betty R. Saunders all of Junction City, KS, three sisters; Priscilla Shelton of Berkeley, CA, Lorene Bizell of Portland, OR and Lelia Mae Williams of Cathedral City, CA, fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Jeffrey Frye, Oscar Frye and Walter Frye and one sister; Margaret Wilson.
Pallbearers will be Jessie Harris, Jonathan Rawlins, Frank S. Ross, Quentin Rawlins, Denard Saunders and Marion Thomas.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph L. Thomas, Justin Thomas, Damion Thomas, Marion Thomas, Jr. and Joseph Thomas, Jr.
Musicians will be Jordan Young, Organist and Brenda Young, Vocalist
