Bernyle Gfeller

A funeral service for Bernyle M. Gfeller, 92, Junction City, KS will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Alan Estby will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be held 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Bernyle was born May 27, 1921, the daughter of Otto and Lorna (Warneke) Schmedemann. She has lived in Geary County her entire life.

Bernyle worked for Wal-Mart for thirty three years. She retired from Wal-Mart in 2009 at the age of 88. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in various church organizations.

She married Oswald D. Gfeller June 4, 1939 in Junction City. He passed away October 1, 1984.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Gfeller of Nevada, MO. and one daughter Janice Cook of El Paso, TX. She is survived by eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers.
