Funeral Services for Bernia M. Ward, 78, Juncton City, KS will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2006 at Faith Tabernacle Church with Rev. Edwin Young officiating and the Eulogy will be done by J.W. Ward. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Ward passed away January 23, 2006 at Geary Community Hospital. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mrs. Ward was born May 5, 1927, St. Louis, MO to Langston and Essie (McDonald) Estell. She moved to Junction City, KS in the mid 1950's where she met and married Carnell Ward. A homemaker most of her life, she cherished her children and family. She was a faithful member to the Faith Tabernacle Church for many years.
She is survived by one sister, Shalina Wright of Junction City, KS, three sons, Ivory Ward of Burlington City, NJ, J.W. Ward of Grandview, MO and Carl Ward of Kansas City, KS, four daughters, Burnice Colbert, Vivian Wilson, Brenda Young all of Junction City, KS and Bette Simmis of Clinton, MS, sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers, her husband, one daughter and two grandsons.
Pallbearers will be Don Boyer, Rufus Bazar, Gene Hamilton, Jose Rodriguez, William Motos, Thurman Young, David Wild.
Honorary Pallbearers Raymond Colbert, Timothy Colbert, Thurmond Colbert, Sammie Simms, Jr., Benjamin Ward, Robert Wilson, Jordan Young and Jaron Young.
Musicians will be Naomi Ross, Jordan Young and Brenda Young.
