Barbara W. Chatman, 73, of Junction City, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021. Barbara was born on March 4, 1947, in Chattanooga, TN. Barbara married Alfonza Chatman, Sr. on March 11, 1966, in Ringgold, GA. Barbara and Alfonza celebrated nearly fifty years of marriage. She worked as a childcare provider for 20 years, and as a Medical Records Assistant at Ft. Riley's Irwin Community Hospital for another 20 years, retiring in 2016.
She is survived by a son, Lerenza Chatman, Junction City KS; 2 daughters, Serreana Chatman-Haywood, Junction City, and Talya Chatman, Newport News, VA; siblings Anthony Drew, Chattanooga, TN, Jerome Drew, Florida, Kenneth Drew, Tennessee, and Gail Drew, Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Graigry Chatman and Dana Haywood, and 3 great granddaughters, Kianna Thomas-Chatman, Naima Warren, and Kamiia Warren, all from Junction City, and other family members. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alfonza Chatman, Sr., in 2015, and a son, Alfonza Chatman, Jr. in 1997.
Funeral and burial services will be private. Burial will be at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Gracen Gfeller Covid-19 Relief Fund at Geary Community Hospital c/o Ashley King 1102 St. Mary's Road Junction City, KS 66441.
