Arnoldo Valdemar,Sr., 73, of Milford, died February 10, 2014 at Geary Community Hospital.
Arnoldo was born on January 24, 1941, La Grulla, Tx., the son of Camerino and Petra Valdemar. Arnoldo graduated from Rio Grande City (Tx.)High School in 1959. He joined the U.S. Army out of high school, spending 30 years in the military. He retired in 1985 as a Master Sergeant. After retirement, he worked 21 years in federal civil service with Directorate of Logistics and Ammunition Supply Point as Accountable Officer on Ft. Riley until his retirement in 2006.
He was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church; American Legion Post #45, Junction City; He was a avid hunter and wildlife conservationist, and contributed to Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited &NRA.
On September 3, 1966 he married Minnie Alvarez in Sparta, Wisconsin. She survives.
Other survivors are a daughter, April Mae Valdemar of Milford, KS, a son, Arnold (Wendy) Valdemar II of Milford, KS; a brother - Alvaro Valdemar Sr. of Falfurrias, Tx.; 2 Sisters - Angela King of Denison, Tx., and Flora Longoria of Falfurrias, Tx.; and 3 Grandsons - Andrew M. Esterly of Opelousas, LA., Kyle Mitchell of Milford, Ks., Hunter L. Valdemar of Milford, Ks.;
He was preceded in death by his parents; his adopitve mother, Andrea Saplad; and 4 brothers, Arturo Valdemar, Camerino Valdemar Jr., Aristeo Valdemar Sr., and Benjamin Valdemar Sr.
