Arnolda Smith

June 9, 1940 — July 7, 2013

Arnolda "Ann" Smith, 73, of Junction City, KS, went to be with the angels on Sunday, July 07, 2013 in Junction City. She was born in Germany on June 9, 1940, to parents Josef and Lina Hartmann. She met her husband, James T. Smith, Sr., while he was stationed in Germany, and returned with him to the states to start a life together.
Ann had been a resident of Junction City since 1967, and worked as a bail bondsman until her recent retirement. She was a founder of AAA-Ann Smith Bail Bonds along with her husband James. The business is still run by her family, as it has been for the last 33 years, and it will continue to do so. Throughout her career, she helped better the lives of thousands of people. She was an amazing example to others of the American Dream, showing all that with determination and hard work, anything can be achieved. Ann enjoyed sitting outside and caring for her flowers and plants, and loved listening to country music. She was also a proud supporter of the Kansas Veteran's and Police Officer's memorial at Heritage Park in Junction City.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, James T. Smith, Sr.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Joseph Smith (Susan) of Kansas and Roland Bock of Germany; a sister, Elvira Muller (Hans) of Germany. She also leaves behind several grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel on Washington Street in Junction City, Kansas.
Funeral Services will be held to celebrate Ann's life at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at the Fort Riley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends and loved ones to make a donation in Ann's memory to the American Diabetes Association at 10580 Barkley STE 400, Overland Park, KS 66212.
