Ardith E. Schmutz, 76, of Junction City, passed away on August 21, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center, Wichita, KS. Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, of Junction City, Kansas, is assisting the family with cremation arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association.
She was born on September 5, 1939, Stockton , Missouri to Virgil and Audry (McBride) West . Ardith eventually moved to Junction CIty, KS to be near her brother, Darrell West, who was stationed at Ft. Riley at the time. Soon after she met Oliver Schmutz, who was friends with Darrell. Ardith and Oliver were married on May 10, 1960. Oliver and Ardith have lived in Junction City, Kansas for over 56 years. She was Oliver's devoted wife, mother to their two sons, secretary, and best friend.
Besides her family life, Ardith loves fishing, camping, gardening, farming, and sharing her love of cooking with others .In her early years she often gave cooking classes in her kitchen to 4-H children; in recent months she was teaching her great-niece to bake pies.
Ardith is survived by her loving Husband, Oliver, her Two Sons, Clayton (Kim) Schmutz of Junction City, KS, Kevin (Leanna) Schmutz of Smolan, KS; Adopted Daughter and Friend, Christine (John) Powers of Junction City, KS; 6 Grandchildren; 5 Great-Grandchildren; Four Brothers, Carl (Sue) West of Stockton, MO, Darrell West of Ravanna, MO, Kermit (Vida) West of Mercer, MO, Denzel West of Stockton, MO; Sister, Iris West Scence of Independence, MO.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Audry (McBride) West, and Father, Virgil West.
