Services for Antonio "Tony" D. Lopez Jr. 68, of Junction City, KS will be Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 1:00PM at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday January 19, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel . Burial will be held with masonic services and full military honors at Ft. Riley Cemetery. Mr. Lopez passed away January 15, 2005 at Geary Community Hospital. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association 10580 Barkley, Suite 400 Overland Park, KS 66212.
Mr. Lopez was born August 27, 1936 in San Antonio, TX the son of Antonio Arriaga and Casimira Davila (Chavaria) Lopez, Sr. Mr. Lopez retired from the United States Army after serving 22 years, 5 months and seven days. During his career he served in Vietnam and Korea. After retirement from the Army he entered Civilian Service and retired after 22 years in February 2003.
Mr. Lopez was a member of VFW Post #8773, Lions Club, Union Masonic Lodge # 7 AF & AM, Shrine Temple and was a new member of the Democratic Party. He enjoyed people, fishing, boating and all sports especially boxing and football.
He married Erika Wittor September 3, 1984 in Junction City, Ks; she survives of the home.
Survivors include three daughters, Monica Dalberg of Vernon, NJ, Debbie Scott of Junction City, KS and Connie Lott of Minneapolis, KS; two sons, Andrew Stone of Phoenix, AZ and Randy Jenkins of Salina, KS. grandchildren, Heather Terry, Chad Jenkins, Raesha Jenkins, Shelby Jenkins, Jesse Jenkins, Miranda Jenkins, Emily Jenkins, Mitchell Stone, Kala Stone, Tyler Stone, Austin Stone and Leif Dalberg; and one great- grandson, Cade Terry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Angelita Haas and Alicia Johnson-Brown.
Pallbearers will be Randy Jenkins, Peter Dalberg,Steve Lott, Chad Jenkins, Sam Colunga and Bill Scott.
Organist will be Florence Whitebeard and Vocalist will be Scott Deppish
