She was born on January 4, 1953, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica to Eric and Estella (Wellington) McCubbin. Annette worked hard with her family as she was growing up. As an adult, she ran her own grocery store and restaurant. After her daughter, Danielle, came back from her deployment in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, Annette lived with her at Fort Riley, Kansas. She stayed with Danielle until the day of her passing.
Annette was a very attentive mother. She loved cooking for her family and caring for her children. They will forever have fond stories of her. As a young man, her son, Norman Jr., was always playing the role as the "Tough Guy". Despite this, she would always be able to get him to give her a hug and a kiss. Another fond memory was shared with her daughter, Bridgette. They would "Face Time" much during Bridgette's second pregnancy. Bridgette would show off her midsection and Annette's comment would be "Bridgette, you have no shame" as they both laughed. She was a woman of God and shared that with her children. Annette and her son, Gayne, would sit together as she read him the 91st psalm. Annette had a young soul and enjoyed life. Her favorite show was "Looney Tunes". Danielle's impersonation of "Bugs Bunny" was guaranteed to make her laugh. She also enjoyed a few quiet hobbies like word find puzzles and watching birds.
