Annetta Helland

Annetta "Nettie" Moritz Helland, 99, Junction City, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 27, 2007, at the Geary Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place. No services are planned. Inurnment will take place at Fort Riley Cemetery.



Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Xavier's Catholic School 200 N. Washington Street Junction City, Kansas 66441.



Nettie was born in the Walla Walla School District in Geary County. She graduated from high school in 1926 and taught in country schools. Nettie received her college degree from Emporia Teachers College and taught in Newton, Kansas.



Nettie married Elmer O. Helland and lived they lived an Army life. They both returned to a small farm on the edge of town. The farm was later given to the city for a public park.



Survivors include one sister LaVerne Moritz of Junction City and two nieces, Patricia Ann Smith of Omaha, Nebraska and Yvonne Evans of Overland Park, Kansas. She is survived by six grand nieces and nephews.



Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
