A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Anne Hartung, 80, of Junction City at 10 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2009 at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October 15, 2009, 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street, a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Hartung passed away on October 10, 2009 at St. Joseph's Village, Manhattan, KS. Memorial contributions have been designated to the St. Xavier Catholic Church or School, P.O. Box 399, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mrs. Hartung was born December 19, 1928, E. Setauket, NY to Samuel and Sophie (Zaleski) Strelecki. She was a homemaker and had also worked as a clerk and stocker for 14 years at the Footlocker Distribution Center. She was a member of the St. Xavier Catholic Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She married Leonard Hartung February 14, 1953 at St. Xavier's he preceded her in death on March 5, 1987.
She is survived by four children; Keith and wife Joy Hartung of Topeka, KS, Larry and wife Angie Hartung of Herington, KS, Mark and wife Chantal Hartung of Manhattan, KS and Barbara and husband Mark Sekulich of Chapman, KS, four siblings; Frances Bielski of Milford, CT, Samuel Strelecki of Rocky Point, NY, Helen Bubka and Frank Strelecki both of East Moriches, NY, nine grandchildren; Nicole Hoover, Justin Hartung, Jason Hartung, Marina Hartung, Ariel Hartung, Ivan Hartung, Heather Sekulich, Amanda Fielden and John Sekulich and two great-grandchildren; Trinity Rooks and Payton Hartung.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; John Strelecki, Stanley Strelecki and two sisters; Victoria Kijek, Mary Yates.
Pallbearers will be Justin Hartung, Jason Hartung, Ivan Hartung, John Sekulich, Kelly Hoover and Tanner Speranza.
