Anna M.(Nardella) Schwein

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, at the St. Xavier Catholic Church for Anna Maria (Nardella) Schwein. Fr. Mark Wesely will officiate. A rosary will be held 10:30 at the church prior to the funeral mass. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Eternal Word Television Network, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210.

Anna Maria was born September 18, 1922, in San Marco in Lamis, Providence of Foggia, Italy the daughter of Gennaro and Luiginia (Radatti) Nardella.

While working on the KATY Railroad, a co-worker of her father advised "Gennaro you must send for your family because there is a war approaching", so he did. Anna Maria left Naples, Italy, November 12, 1937. After eight days of experiencing rough seas she and her mother and sister Carmela arrived in New York at Ellis Island on November 18, 1937. Their destination was Chicago where family lived until 1961. Then they moved to Junction City, KS.

Anna Maria was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church. During World War II, she was a Rosie the Riveter having worked in several factories. She also made batteries for Army Jeeps at a factory in Chicago. She also worked for Whitaker Cable Corporation in Junction City. She had an extraordinary faith that developed at a young age as she was blessed many times by St. Padre Pio preaching in her small village church. She enjoyed working on her crochet work, sewing and cooking.

She married Marvin R. Schwein. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, B. David Ruberry and his wife Christina of Olathe, KS and one daughter, Robbie Kramer and her husband Dick of Herington, KS. She is also survived by one brother Tony Nardella and his wife Carol of Junction City, KS and one sister Lucia Coffman of Manhattan, KS. She is survived by five grandchildren, Jennifer Woodford Tait and her husband Mark of Little Rock, AR, Kate Kramer Ryan and her husband Aran of Manhattan, KS, Adam Kramer and his wife Courtney of Virginia Beach, VA, Keith Kramer of Herington, KS and Ronny Ruberry of Olathe, KS, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Patricia Woodford, two sisters, Gracella and Carmela and her brother-in-law, Larry Coffman.
