Anita A. Krolczyk, 89, formerly of Junction City, died, Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Chapman Valley Manor in Chapman. Anita was born June 20, 1929 in Vienna, Austria, the daughter of Johnann and Maria (Stolmeyer) Gehringer. Anita grew up in Vienna and attended her schooling there, graduating from high school and attending college. Later in her life, she moved to Kingston, New York.
Anita moved to Junction City in 1953 with her husband, who was in the military and transferred to Ft. Riley. Anita worked for many years as a secretary at the Ft. Riley Red Cross.
Anita was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church; the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladie's Auxiliary; Democratic National Committee; Geary County Farm Bureau; Life Member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary; Paralyzed Vets. of America; AARP Life Member International; Assoc. of Chief's of Police; Kansas Sheriff's Association; and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Anita married Frank P. Krolczyk on September 1, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. Frank died August 21, 1992.
Anita is survived by a long-time friend, Tepin Sommers, Manhattan. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, who all lived in Vienna, Austria.
It was Anita's wish to be cremated and there will be no services.
A private inurnment will be at a later date at Fort Riley Post Cemetery, Ft. Riley.
Memorial contributions may be made in Anita's name to St. Xavier Catholic Church.
