Althea O. "Miggie" Bowers, 59, of Junction City passed away at her residence following a long illness on September 15, 2009. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2009, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. Funeral services will be held at a later date in Wilkesboro, NC with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in North Carolina.
Miggie was born January 19, 1950, Wilkesboro, NC to Alan and Lillian (Thomas) Bynum. She married Raymond Bowers on July 19, 1969 in Wilkesboro. She worked for many years as the Manager of AAFES Dry Cleaning and for 6 years as a supply technician for Contract Services at Fort Riley, KS. Miggie was an avid bowler and had a green thumb she loved to work in her greenhouse and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Raymond of Junction City, KS, daughter, Michele Yvette Eason and husband Ryan of Atlanta,GA, son, Raymond A. Bowers,III and wife Pam of Charleston, SC, six siblings, Candace Currence and husband Bill of Mitchellville, MD, Lola Davidson and husband Tom of Waldorf, MD, Levonia Barber and husband Bill of Charlotte, NC, Elsie Cowles of Wilkesboro, NC, Monty Bynum of Bronx, NY and Bynum B. Bynum of Wilkesboro, NC, and five grandchildren, Merquay and Jaden Eason both of Atlanta, GA, Darien, Kaelan and Aedan Bowers all of Charleston, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
