Funeral services for Alta R. McCluskey, 98, of Junction City, KS will be at
10 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City, KS.
Pastor Matthew Glasgow will officiate. Mrs. McCluskey died May 8, 2007 in
Farmer City, IL, at Jackson Heights Nursing Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren Jeffrey Ruckman, Kimberly Ruckman.
Susan Ryan, Michael Ruckman, Kevin McCluskey, Kelly Bradin, Robin French,
Michael McCluskey, Mal McCluskey, Molly McCluskey-Shipman, Rob Yohe, Jay
Yohe, Pamela Leahy and Sheila Johnson.
Organist will be Ramona Prinz Smith. Rick Munson and Ryan McCluskey will be the vocalists.
Mrs. McCluskey was born Sept 11, 1908, in the Kickapoo area, Geary County to
George H. and Evelyn Upham Chase. She was a lifelong resident of Junction
City and Geary County. On Oct. 23, 1929 she was married to Harry E.
McCluskey in Junction City. He preceded her in death April 28, 1999. She
was retired after 17 years as an accountant in civil service at Fort Riley.
She was an 86 year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Junction
City and served as an elder of the church. She taught 2 years at Heidel a
one room schoolhouse in rural Geary County and was a member of the Retired
Federal Employees Association. She and husband Harry served as co
Presidents of the Kansas Square Dance Association. They taught square
dancing to many squares of 4-H¹ers. She was an active supporter and leader
in Geary County 4-H activities. She organized an Alzheimer Support group,
served as a volunteer at the Geary County Hospital and was a longtime member
of EEU.
Survivors include children: Patricia (Robert) Ruckman of Farmer City, IL,
Gerald (Mary Eleanor) McCluskey of Leavenworth, Dennis McCluskey of
O¹Fallon, MO, and Keith (Judy) McCluskey of El Dorado, 29 great
grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, two children Dale McCluskey and
Barbara Yohe Miller; grandaughter, Cindy McCluskey; brother Ralph Blazier and
sister Marguerite Bourne.
