Allene D. Esters, 91, of Junction City, passed away on August 13, 2015 at her daughter's residence. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church with Reverend Jeffery J. Jefferson officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Riley Cemetery.
She was born on August 6, 1924, Columbus, Ohio to Albert W. and Lena (Kelly) Settle.
Allene was a Day Care Provider and Foster parent for many years. She was a member of Ward A.M.E. Chapel.
On January 7, 1946 she married Howard Esters he preceded her in death July 25, 2006
Allene is survived by her loving Daughter, Pamela Asbury and her husband Galen of Junction City, KS; her granddaughter, Joy Ruffin and her husband Larry of Junction City, KS; her four great-grandchildren, Jordan, Journey, Chazaya and Galen and a host of nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter, Talia Asbury and her three sisters, Alberta Anderson, Rose Woolfolk and Elizabeth Brooks.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Self, Jordan Talton, Larry Ruffin, Michael Brooks, John B. Anderson and Galen Asbury
