Alice R. Sexton, 100, of Junction City, passed away December 31, 2003 at Geary Community Hospital. Visitation will be Sunday, January 4, 2004, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Funeral service will be Monday, January 5, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church. Pastor Ronnie Roberts will officiate. Alice was born Nov. 14, 1903, in Abilene, KS, daughter of Benton O. and Minnie E. (Phillips) Shirk. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1923. Alice married Harley A. Sexton Aug. 15, 1924 in Abilene, KS; he preceded her in death Apr. 30, 1974. She was a member of the First Christian Church, a Bible School Teacher for many years, past president of the Church Circle, and a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters: Verleen Byrn of Junction City, and Marilynn Bielefeld of Chapman, KS; one sister; Doris Hood of Abilene, KS, Six grandchildren, Twelve great-granchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Parents, three sisters; Mary Wier, Gladys Howie and Thelma Whisler, one brother; Cleyson Shirk.
Pallbearers will be Doug Bielefeld, Todd, Bielefeld, Tim Canaday, Chris Ruff, Andre Kelly and Aaron Kelly.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Hood, Kenneth Topping, Robert Ingmire, Casey Thomas, John Jameson, Ray Schmidt, Willie Roberts and Raymond Eller.
Musicians will be Roxie Johnston and Marsha Canaday as organists and granddaughters will provide vocals.
