Funeral services for Alice (Hooper) Rose, 90, of Junction City will be 11 a.m., Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Kenton Van officiating. Visitation will be 6 - 8:00p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Rose died Saturday, January 15, 2011, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church, 804 N. Jefferson Street or to the Geary County Historical Society, 530 N. Adams Street both in Junction City, Kansas 66441.
Alice was born October 17, 1920 in Geary County to Maurice and Edith (Matthews) Hooper.
Alice graduated from Junction City High School in 1938. She was a lifetime resident of Junction City. She worked as a bookkeeper for Goreham Motors and as a Payroll Clerk for USD #475.
She married Charles Rose on June 16, 1940 in Junction City. Mrs.Rose was a member of the Lyons Creek 4-H Club, First United Methodist Church, Junction City Pilot Club, Doting Grandma's Club and several bridge clubs.
Mrs. Rose is survived by two daughters, Sheila Connolly and Dinah Wulff. She is also survived by six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2006 and two sisters, Marjorie Meadows and Betty Atkinson.
