Services for Alice Katherine Rutledge-Ponton Cleveland,90, of Grandview Plaza,
KS will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Friday, November 1, 2002,
at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Dr. Joe Belardo and Reverend Matthew Glasgow will officiate.Katherine died October 29, 2002 at Geary Community Hospital. Visitation will be Thursday, October 31, 2002, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Junction City, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 113 W. 5th, Junction City, KS 66441. Katherine was born September 9, 1912, at St. Louis, Missouri to Judson Harry and Alice (Leeman) Rutledge; her father died when she was 6 weeks old, and her mother later married Harry Ponton. Katherine graduated from Junction City High School in 1931. Marriage Date & Place: Katherine married Charles N. Cleveland October 27, 1940 at Junction City, Kansas, they later divorced. Katherine was head of the drapery department at Durland Furniture Store from 1945-1970.Member of the First Presbyterian Church, and previous member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Sunday School Teacher, Evening Circle, and volunteered at the Button Box. Survivors: One Daughter: Barbara and (Clyde) Hill, of Grandview Plaza, KS; Four Grandchildren: Kellis and (Van) Voyles, Kevin and (Shelby) Hill, David West, and Daniel Hill; and Three Great-Grandchildren: Christopher and Angela Graham, and Hannah Elizabeth Hill. Preceded In Death By: Mother, Father and Step-father; former husband, and dear friend Jennie Thornton.
