Alice C. Hoover, 98, of Junction City, died peacefully on December 13, 2019 at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in Junction City, her home for the past seven years.
Alice was born in Wreford, Kansas, the daughter of William and Caroline (Peterson) Rogers. She later moved to the McDowell Creek area with her family.
Alice graduated from Junction City High School, and was a member of the Cleveland, Brookside, and Humbolt 4-H Clubs.
She worked for the United States Draft Board for 28 years, as well as the Geary County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service, before retiring in 1981.
Alice was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Junction City, serving on the Board of Trustees and the "We Care Committee" for many years. She also worked with the Geary County Historical Society.
Alice had a life-long love of flowers, gardening, bird watching , trees and nature's beauty in Geary County.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Hoover; her parents; 2 brothers, William Rogers, Jr. and Edward Rogers; 2 sisters, Irene and Hazel Rogers; and a niece, Wilma Siebert, all of Junction City.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Engel and her husband Bob, Mesquite, Texas; a grandson, Craig Lillibridge, Toledo, Ohio; a granddaughter, Christine Wilcox, Mesquite, Texas; and five great grandsons.
A Celebration of Life graveside service for Alice will be at Highland Cemetery at a later date, with Hospice Chaplain Linda Lewis presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be given in Alice's name to Accord Hospice of Manhattan, 3250 Kimball Ave., Manhattan, KS, 66503, or charity of the donor's choice.
