Albert S. Hofmeister

SFC (Ret.) Albert S. Hofmeister, 83, of Junction City, passed away January 16, 2024, at Valley View Senior Living after a brief battle with cancer.
Mr. Hofmeister was born September 20, 1940, in Plattling, Germany, to Berta (Artmeier) and Albert Hofmeister. He was the youngest of their four children and the only son.
In 1959, Mr. Hofmeister joined the U.S. Army and served until retiring in 1981 at Fort Riley. He continued to work on Fort Riley in various managerial positions with the Non-Commissioned Officers club system.
On April 23, 1963, Mr. Hofmeister married Chong Sun So (Susanna) in Seoul, Korea.
Mr. Hofmeister is survived by his wife, Susanna, of the home; their two sons, Al (wife Mary Moberly) of Swan Lake, Montana, and Art (life partner Carla Soto Mitchell) of Chamblee, Georgia; and a niece, Annamarie Bosch, of Plattling, Germany. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law.
Cremation has taken place with plans in the near future to return his ashes to his homeland.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one’s charity of choice. It was discovered that Mr. Hofmeister very humbly had been giving very generously to various charities during the latter part of his life.
