Albert Gerald Woods

Albert G. "Arkie" Woods, 74, of Junction City, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 at Valley View Senior Life Center. He was born Oct. 3, 1938 in Caraway, Arkansas, the son Albert F. & Nadine Wilson Woods. A longtime Junction City resident, he had been a field supervisor with Junction City Cable TV and later worked for the City of Junction City in the Parks and Recreation Dept., retiring from the maintenance staff at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Arkie was a former member of Eagles Aerie #830 of Junction City.

Albert married Sue Craig Rowland on Dec. 5, 1959 at Paragould, Arkansas. They were later divorced. He later married Judy Welch in Junction City. They later divorced.

Survivors include: 2 daughters, Kay Sams and husband Russ, Durand, Wisconsin, and Denise Miller and husband Dewayne, Junction City; a step-daughter, Jennifer Mier and husband John, Shawnee; a step-son, Jeff Welch and wife Leslie, Abilene; 2 brothers, Jimmy Woods and wife Shirley, Lafe, Arkansas, and Calvin Woods and wife Barb, Junction City; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and a sister.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at Skiddy Cemetery, south of Junction City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantry of Geary County, 136 W. 3rd, Junction City, KS 66441. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Junction City in charge of arrangements.
