MSG (Retired) Aaron Lee Berry, 78, of Junction City, died Monday, March 14, 2016 at Geary Community Hospital. Aaron was born Nov. 4, 1937 in Ocala, Florida, the son of Lucious and Mary Alice (Richards) Berrian. Aaron attended school in Florida, and graduated from Bellview Santos High School in Santos, Florida in the Class of 1955. After high school he worked for a short time at a dairy farm in Florida, before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1960. He spent 24 years in the Army, before retiring as a MSG in 1984. After his retirement he worked as an accountant in the Dietary Dept. of Irwin Army Hospital on Ft. Riley.
Aaron was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon, and sang in the Men's Chorus. He had served as the Layman President of the Smokey Hills District of the church.
Aaron married Bobbie J. (Golden) Stevens in July of 2003 in Junction City. Bobbie survives of the home. Other survivors include: 3 daughters, Janice Rivers and her husband Eddie, Ocala, Florida, Ava Young and her husband Willie, Ft. Knox, Kentucky, and Michelle McCoy, Ft. Meade, Maryland; a step-son, Jamil Snowden, Kansas City, Mo.; 2 step-daughters, Felicia Walls and her husband Jonathan, St. Charles, Mo., and Paula Middleton, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Lucious Berry, Ocala, Florida; 19 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Aaron was preceded in death by his first 2 wives, Marie Berry, and Naomi Berry; his parents, and 4 brothers, Walter, David, Raymond, and Oscar.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Second Missionary Baptist Church in Junction City. Burial will follow at Ft. Riley Post Cemetery on Ft. Riley. Full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley. The family will greet friends Monday, March 21, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City.
