1St Grant Sallee

1st SGT (Ret.) Clyde G. Sallee, 74, of Junction City, passed away on March 19, 2019 surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 6, 1945, Newport, RI, to Clyde and Frances (Furrey) Sallee. He grew up in Sciota, IL where he was drafted into the United States Army in 1966 and served until 1968. He rejoined in 1974 as an army medic. Clyde retired from the Army in 1994 as the First Sergeant at Irwin Army Community Hospital. After retiring he began working at St. Johns Military School as a military advisor. He later worked as a drug and alcohol prevention specialist with the Army Substance Abuse Program which allowed him to do what he loved to do, work with soldiers. After retiring in 2013, Clyde liked to spend his time volunteering, going to KSU and Blue Jay games, watching NASCAR and traveling.

In 1970, Clyde welcomed his son, Brian. Brian and his wife Mayi brought the three pride and joys into his life, his grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, and Nathan. Clyde enjoyed any time that he as able to spend with them. They truly brought him great joy every day.

Clyde married the love of his life, Cindy in 1995 and gained a daughter, Kristi from this marriage. Clyde loved traveling with Cindy, especially if their trips were to visit the grandkids or included warm weather and them both relaxing on the beach.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Cindy; his son Brian; his daughter, Kristi; daughter in law, Mayi; Grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, and Nathan; father and mother in law, Larry and Margaret Dacus; as well as many other loving family and friends. He is also survived by his fur babies, Mitzi and Mia who never left his side.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances and his father Clyde.

Clyde was adored by many. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, and contagious smile. Family and friends were the most important things to him. Clyde loved life. He always had a sense of humor and kept us on our toes. Whether he was ending his sentences with "that's right, Jack" or saying "bye" multiple times before ending a phone conversation. There were so many laughs along the way. He enjoyed embarrassing his kids and grandkids with his numerous made up dance moves or made up song lyrics. He will be truly missed.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 22, 2019, from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel, 805 Caroline Ave., Junction City, KS 66441. Cremation will follow the service.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1705 McFarland Rd, Junction City, KS 66441, with Bishop Ted Freeman officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Friends of Animals, PO Box 580, Junction City, KS 66441 or the American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge, 1120 Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas City, MO 64105.
